The original creators of the famous ice cream brand Ben & Jerry's has stated that parent company Unilever stopped the introduction of a new pro-Palestinian ice cream flavor.

The entrepreneur, who established the company alongside his partner, announced that he plans to personally create this new product as part of an individual collection highlighting causes the company was barred from addressing publicly.

Ongoing Dispute Between Creators versus Parent Company

This latest announcement escalates the continuing disagreement between the world-famous dessert company with Unilever, the UK-based packaged goods giant which has owned Ben & Jerry's since 2000.

The co-founders have asserted how the parent company along with its ice cream arm the Magnum brand improperly prevented their company from "fulfilling its ethical commitments".

Watermelon Flavor becoming an Emblem of Support

The entrepreneur revealed via social media how he's developing a new watermelon-based sorbet, requesting public suggestions for naming options plus additional components.

“I'm accomplishing what they couldn't,” Mr. Cohen stated from his kitchen. “I'm creating a watermelon-flavored ice cream that calls for lasting ceasefire in Palestine and calls for addressing the harm that occurred in the region.”

The watermelon has become a symbol for solidarity with the Palestinian people because of its colors, which closely resemble those of Palestine's national banner – the distinctive four-color pattern.

Previous Social Engagement plus Recent Changes

Several years ago, the ice cream company refused to sell their merchandise in areas occupied by Israel, resulting in the parent company selling their Israel business over to an Israeli distributor, thus allowing continued sales within disputed territories.

This upcoming dessert series is being created through Ben's Best, the activist dessert company that was first established several years back for endorsing former political contender Senator Sanders with the flavor "Bernie's Return".

Leadership Changes and Future Plans

Mr. Cohen stated that he will create other ice cream flavors that address concerns that Ben & Jerry's was silenced from speaking about openly by Unilever.

This development comes after co-founder Mr. Greenfield resigned his position at the company recently, following many years with the organization, mentioning concerns regarding how its independence had been undermined after Unilever's decision to restrict its social activism.

Previously, Mr. Cohen remarked how “My partner has a really big heart and the ongoing dispute with our parent company was deeply distressing him."

"My heart compels me to continue to work within the organization to advocate for its independence so that it can actualise its ethical purpose, the values which established its foundation and has maintained for over 40 years," he told journalists.
